During 17-19 May, 2020, the Independent Authority Against Corruption registered and received declaration of income and assets of candidates for the 2020 Parliamentary election.

In accordance with article 32.5 of the Parliamentary election law, reference of declaration of income and assets of all candidates was submitted to the Election general committee on 20 May, 2020.

11 CRIMINAL CASES TRANSFERRED TO COURT

The Investigation Department of the Independent Authority Against Corruption received 28 complaints, information 18-22 May, 2020 and investigated a total of 86 complaints and information. And of these, 3 inquiry cases were opened in connection with the complaints and information, 7 motions to close complaints and information and 1 motion to transfer complaint and information to relevant jurisdiction submitted to the Prosecutor’s office. Currently, 75 complaints and information are in action.

455 CRIMINAL CASES ARE CURRENTLY BEING INVESTIGATED

From October 26 to 30, 2020, the Investigation department of the IAAC received 26 criminal complaints, information and investigated a total of 81 complaints, information. Of these, 15 criminal cases were opened, 14 complaints, information were referred to prosecutors with a proposal to refuse to open criminal case, one complaint was referred to a prosecutor with a proposal to transfer jurisdiction, and 51 complaints are currently being investigated.

IAAC HAD INSPECTED 39 CONFLICT OF INTEREST COMPLAINTS

From October 26 to 30, 2020, the Inspection and Analysis Department of the IAAC has received and investigated 39 complaints, information submitted by citizens and legal entities regarding corruption, and conflict of interest of public officials.

Last week, 8 complaints, information were inspected and resolved. There are 31 conflict of interest complaints currently under inspection.

INTERNATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION TRAINING COURSE IS BEING CONDUCTED

IAAC officers are participating e-training for international anti-corruption experts conducted by The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission of the Republic of Korea from November 3 to 5, 2020. More than 20 anti-corruption experts from Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Belarus are taking part in the e-training which is being held in Russian language.

The training covers topics such as Korea’s anti-corruption experience, anti-corruption measures, whistleblower protection, investigation, and international best practices in combating corruption.

INCOME AND ASSETS DECLARTION OF 58 OFFICIALS ARE BEING INSPECTED

From October 26 to 30, 2020, IAAC has inspected private interest, income and assets declaration of 78 officials and resolved 20 official’s declaration in accordance with planned inspection.

Of these, one official’s declaration was found to be in violation of law. An official whose name is “E” will be held responsible in accordance with Article 13.8.2 of the Anti-Corruption Law.

There are 58 official’s personal interest, assets and income declarations currently under examination.

From November 2 to 6, 2020, the Investigation Department of the IAAC received 27 criminal complaints, information and investigated a total of 78 complaints. Of these, 5 criminal cases were opened, 18 complaints and information were referred to prosecutors with a proposal to refuse to open criminal case, one complaint and information was referred to a prosecutor with a proposal to transfer jurisdiction, and 54 criminal complaints are currently being investigated.
