THE IAAC AND THE ANTI-CORRUPTION AGENCY OF KAZAKHSTAN SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING ON THE COOPERATION IN THE FIELDS OF PREVENTING AND COMBATTING CORRUPTION

Deputy Commissioner General Mr. Azjargal Gavaasuren along with relevant officials from the IAAC participated in the Workshop “Enhancing Anti-Corruption Due Diligence and Collaboration in Investment Projects” under the Network of Anti-Corruption Practitioners along the Silk Road Economic Belt organized from 18 to 19 May 2023 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Mr. Azjargal Gavaasuren delivered a speech during the opening of the session, in which he emphasized that the IAAC supported the exchange of experiences and information on the activities of the law enforcement practitioners organized in relation to the Network of Anti-Corruption Practitioners along the Silk Road Economic Belt. Moreover, Deputy Commissioner General also mentioned that the Government of Mongolia has been successfully implementing the comprehensive "5 Steps" Anti-Corruption Action Plan, which involves whistleblowing, extradition, asset recovery, and transparency, as well as conducting financial investigations and in accordance with international cooperation, recovered USD 12.2 million from foreign countries in 2022.

Furthermore, Deputy Commissioner General held a bilateral meeting with the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Maj. Gen. of the Anti-Corruption Service Mr. Zhumagali Askhat Zhumagaliuly exchanged views on the progress and future cooperation of the two authorities in the fields of exchange of good practice and signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Preventing and Combatting Corruption.

The Mongolian Delegation team also held discussions with the Delegation of Financial Monitoring Agency and exchanged views on combating and preventing money laundering and corruption, as well as held a meeting with delegates of the National Supervisory Commission of the PRC, further discussing cooperation on corruption investigation and exchange of good practice, and agreed to actively cooperate on the field of anti-corruption.
