One of the primary functions of the IAAC is to detect and investigate corruption-related crimes, identify illegally obtained assets and income, freeze, seize, confiscate, and return them.

Mongolia ratified the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in 2005. This convention provides member states the opportunity to implement anti-corruption measures, prevent corruption, and collaborate with other countries to repatriate assets acquired through corruption-related crimes.
