From September 21 to 25, 2020, IAAC reviewed private interest, income and assets declaration of 11 officials.

Last week, a total of 45 declarations were inspected. Out of 11 declarations inspected and resolved, 1 declaration was in violation, 2 declarations were not in violation, and 8 officials were warned.

There are 34 officials’ private interest, assets and income declarations currently under examination.

Last week, the Inspection and Analysis Department received and investigated 56 complaints submitted by citizens and legal entities regarding corruption, and conflict of interests of public officials. 13 complaints were inspected and resolved during the reporting period. There are currently 43 complaints under investigation.

IAAC has examined the preliminary private interest declaration of 262 nominees for public office and sent to the relevant authorities. There are 151 preliminary declarations currently under examination.

From September 21 to 25, 2020, the Investigation department received 20 criminal complaints and investigated a total of 80 complaints. Of these, 9 criminal cases were opened, 15 complaints were referred to the prosecutors’ office with a proposal to refuse to open criminal case, 2 complaints were referred to other investigating bodies, and 54 complaints are currently being investigated.

Of the 457 criminal cases investigated last week, 6 were referred to the court, 6 were referred to the prosecutors’ office with a proposal to refuse to open a criminal case, while case was transferred to another agency. There are currently 460 criminal cases under investigation.

On September 23 and 25 2020, a training course and meeting were held 2 times for representatives of professional studios, productions, and agencies operating in the sector of journalism and marketing. A main goal of the events was to encourage participation of the creative industry in improving awareness of the social danger of corruption, instilling and zero tolerance against corruption among the youth of the country.    

During the training course, IAAC employees introduced concepts and harms of corruption, and results of public awareness campaigns. In addition, information on the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Program, the Corruption Perception Index Survey, the results and causes of the Integrity Assessment were given to the participants.

The IAAC organized “Healthy Person-Healthy Society” awareness campaign in cooperation with NGO ‘Free-Fitness’ to improve awareness of the social danger of corruption, to involve citizens, government organizations, and NGOs in building intolerance against corruption, to cultivate the idea of justice to the public, to activate citizens’ initiatives, and to improve anti-corruption education.

The Investigation Department of IAAC, during the period starting from February 08-26, received 109 complaints with criminal nature. IAAC opened inquiry cases on 26 complaints and further 28 complaints were deemed as insufficient to open criminal cases and submitted to the prosecution office with due proposal. Currently, 45 complaints of criminal nature have been investigated by the Department.

Between 23-26 February of 2021, IAAC verified the preliminary private interest declarations of 147 candidates for public positions.

541 declarations were received and 625 declarations were reviewed in the last week. Currently, 478 declarations are under inspection by IAAC.

 In order to follow recommendations issued by the National Emergency Commission in charge of dealing with pandemic and streamline internal operation to keep to the circumstances caused by the unprecedented time, IAAC sends the approvals of the preliminary declarations through official email addresses of the nominating institution.

The Inspection and Analysis Department of IAAC, during the period starting from 23 to 26 February of 2021, inspected 64 complaints related to corruption and conflict of interests.

Last week, 10 of them resolved and 54 of them are under verification at the moment.

The Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia-Pacific has organized an e-seminar on “Engaging youth generation in youth generation in the fight against corruption”. More than 80 anti-corruption experts attended in the seminar from the Asia and the Pacific region.

During the seminar, Lawrence Chiu, Head of the International Liaison and Training Unit of the Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption, introduced the work of his organization's Public Relations Department to promote honesty among children and youth and increase tolerance against corruption.

The Inspection and Analysis Department of IAAC, during the period starting from 23 to 26 February of 2021, has inspected 10 public officials’ asset and income declarations.

 Currently, 9 public officials’ asset and income, and private interest declaration are under inspection.

Within the framework of anti-corruption education, the IAAC aims to provide anti-corruption training to all levels of government, citizens, civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, the private sector and professional associations.

In March 4th, 2021, anti-corruption training was organized for the employees of the Deposit Insurance Corporation.
