VOLUMES I AND II OF THE 2014 COURT DECISIONS OF CORRUPTION CRIMES PUBLISHED
In addition to detecting and suppressing corruption and official misconduct, anti-corruption activities play an important role in eliminating the causes and conditions of corruption, preventing risks, and raising public awareness against the social dangers of corruption.
The IAAC has been conducting inquiries and investigations of 10 types of crimes since September 7, 2007, according to the Criminal Procedure Code. In 2017, the new version of the Criminal Procedure Code provides 11 types of corruption offences under the jurisdiction of IAAC.
The National Anti-Corruption Strategy aims to establish a system for regularly informing the public about corruption and official misconduct and its resolution in accordance with the grounds and procedures set forth in the law, and for analyzing decision information. Transparency in the resolution of corruption crimes is also important for establishing public oversight, raising legal awareness, and educating citizens.
The IAAC has been disseminating court rulings to the public since 2008, and is presenting a compilation of 2014 official criminal court rulings. These compilations include 80 corruption cases investigated by the IAAC, and are unique in that they include first-instance court rulings, appellate court rulings, and supervisory court rulings, depending on their legal and practical significance.
It is important for judges, prosecutors, investigators, and advocates to standardize the application of the laws in the consistent manner. It is hoped that it will contribute to improving the anti-corruption legal environment.
